What a bummer day

So I’m not sure what happened in my world but obviously eating had a huge part of it because I am now 130 pounds from my 121 lbs that I was 6 months ago. Now 130 pounds when you’re 5 ft 7 inches is still very much a healthy weight but like anyone can appreciate that once one starts gaining weight it kind of becomes a pattern and before you know it you are overweight and I just can’t go back there again.

I gained 50 lbs with my pregnancy and it took me almost 4 years to get rid of it and I just can’t face the reality that I might be going back there again.

Funny my initial thought with this website was that if I publicly tracked how I was doing it would make me more accountable to people and that would help me along. Sort of like having some Internet coaches !!

So people I really need ya guys. Get my psyched up again.

Guess the first step will be to set a few goals for myself. I had some great ones that I shared when I first started the blog but they are buried now and honestly I was a lot more motivated then so I think I need to sit back, reassess and truly see what’s reasonable as a starting point. Oh and of course losing weight wasn’t one of my goals back then and now it is so things do need to be different going forward.

It’s fruit season right now and while I know that eating too much fruit is a bad idea it’s probably a better idea than some alternatives so perhaps we could say something like 40% of consumption should be fruit, 15% from vegetables, 25% from grains and 20% from dairy oh and of course factor in some meat. I’m really not too sure how to implement that as I hate weighing food and looking up calorie values. I did try that for 8 months and while I did lose 20 lbs I burned out and eventually went back to my old eating habits and gained 10 lbs of it back again.

SO I think probably the most simplistic way is to just guess portions figuring that meat is high calories so I should probably have small pieces of it and veggies are very low cal so I should probably have lots of it.

Then we go on to my favourite subject. Exercise. I was doing so well. 20 minutes/day for 7 days/week. Seriously I think attempting to jump right back into that is a recipe for disaster so perhaps 2 15 minute sessions/week.

I’m thinking this is probably a good start. What do you think ?

Any ideas ?
